Acupuncture (also: electrical, auricular & scalp acupuncture) By placing extremely fine needles at certain points along the meridians, the acupuncturist can assist in restoring the proper balance and flow of Qi, allowing your body and its organ systems to have the optimal opportunity to achieve or maintain health. Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine create a strong support system so disease does not have the opportunity to become established in your body. The result of routine Oriental Medicine treatment is a strong resilient body with calm, balanced energy. (also electrical, auricular, and scalp acupuncture) Oriental Herbs Oriental Herbs or nutritional supplements are recommended by the acupuncturist as needed to aid in the treatment of your condition, and serve to increase the effectiveness of acupuncture. Modern research and international health organizations agree that herbal medicine is a safe and highly effective treatment for many conditions. Including: *Breathing problems: colds, flu, allergies, asthma, emphysema, sinusitis, and bronchitis * Emotional Issues: anxiety, depression, insomnia, and mood swings * Digestive difficulties: acute/chronic diarrhea, constipation, indigestion, gastritis ulcers, and irritable bowel syndrome * Bladder problems: urinary tract infections, and prostatitis * Reproductive issues: irregular/painful menstruation, infertility, PMS, menopausal symptoms, and sexual dysfunction * Pain: neuralgia, migraine headaches, dizziness, low back, neck and shoulder pain * Circulatory problems: hypertension, angina pectoris, arteriosclerosis, anemia * Supportive therapy: painful, debilitating disorders such as hepatitis, fibromyalgia, and auto-immune disease. Moxibustion Moxa is used to warm regions and acupuncture points with the intention of stimulating circulation through the points and inducing a smoother flow of blood and Qi. Scientific research has shown that mugwort (the herb used for moxa) acts as an emmenagogue, meaning that it stimulates blood-flow in the pelvic area and uterus. It is claimed that moxibustion mitigates against cold and dampness in the body and can supposedly serve to turn breech babies. Moxibustion is especially effective in the treatment of chronic problems, deficient conditions (weakness), and gerontology. Cupping Cupping is a therapy designed to stimulate the flow of blood and Qi within the superficial muscle layers. It is used for sore muscles, tension, neck pain and detoxification. In this therapy, your acupuncturist will place small "cups" over specific areas on your body. A vacuum is created under the cup using heat or suction. The cups may be moved slowly over the affected area or they may be left in place. *After the treatment there may be slight redness or bruising; but there is no cause for alarm. It will generally dissipate within a few days to a week. Life Style & Nutritional Counseling An evaluation of lifestyle and nutritional habits allows the acupuncturist to determine the best course of treatment for the patient and recommend diet or other lifestyle changes as necessary. Therapeutic Massage The basic goal of Massage Therapy is to help the body heal itself and to increase health and well-being. There are many different styles of Massage that are used to accomplish this, including:
- Swedish Massage
- Deep Tissue/Myofascial Release
- Cranio Sacral
- Acupressure/Shiatsu
- Tui Na
Chiropractic Manipulation, or adjustment of the affected joint and tissues, restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing tissues to heal. In many cases, such as lower back pain, chiropractic care may be the primary method of treatment. When other medical conditions exist, Chiropractic care may complement or support medical treatment by relieving the musculoskeletal aspects associated with the condition. Although Chiropractors care for more than just back pain, many patients visit chiropractors looking for relief from this pervasive condition. In fact, according to the American Chiropractic Association, more than 31 million Americans experience low-back pain at any given time.
